What Makes Money Money?

Money gradually evolved from societies from barter (or direct exchange) economies to economies based on indirect exchange. Under indirect exchange, Joey sells his chickens' eggs for money and then either buys, say, a wrench from Bob or saves the money for future use.
If one looks at this with an economist's eye, Joey exchanged his commodity (eggs) for another commodity (money) and then either saved the commodity or exchanged it yet again for another commodity (Bob's wrench). Hence money is actually a commodity just like corn, copper, or even an Ipod, if you follow the literal definition. This is a truth that few seem to recognize or fully appreciate its implications.

Ron Paul: Gun Control: Protecting Terrorists and Despots

teas straight talkTragically, over the Thanksgiving holiday, the world was reminded how evil and cruel people can be. According to emerging accounts of the events in India, about a dozen well-armed and devastatingly well-trained terrorists laid siege on the city of Mumbai, killing almost two hundred people, and terrorizing thousands.
Regardless of the reasons, the indiscriminate shooting on masses of unarmed and defenseless people is chilling and reprehensible. How were these terrorists able to continue so long, relatively unchallenged, killing so many?
India’s gun laws are her business, of course. However, once the shock of these events and the initial reaction of fear passes, Americans should take away a valuable lesson about real homeland security and gun control from this tragedy.
Gun control advocates tell us that removing guns from society makes us safer. If that were the case why do the worst shootings happen in gun free zones, like schools? And while accidents do happen, aggressive, terroristic shootings like this are unheard of at gun and knife shows, or military bases. It bears repeating that an armed society truly is a polite society.

Did Obama Buy The White House With Illegal Money?

There is now growing evidence that Sen. Barack Obama bought the bulletinWhite House by using illegal and fraudulent fundraising, but that's a story you won't read in the mainstream media. You will read about it here today. While that story of Obama election law violations is still developing, what is the mainstream media reporting on? The New York Times isn't interested in election fraud ... if committed by Sen. Obama and the Democrats. So it is using its resources to investigate the amount of money the McCain campaign spent on hair stylists for Gov. Sarah Palin. (New York Times, Dec. 6, 2008).

The Threat of Globalism to Our National Sovereignty and The Ron Paul Phenomena--in retrospect..

When I first heard of Ron Paul's campaign for the Republican party's nolancandidate for President in the 2008 election one of the first things I did was to check out his campaign website. Within its scope I found a lot of what he had written--and I found that I agreed with all of it--and I thought to myself, "This is too good to be true"--and in the first of my articles concerning him and his campaign I revealed my skepticism on 12/29/'07...

Paulistas Invade L.A. County GOP

Twenty supporters of former Presidential candidate Ron Paul showed up this morning at the organizational meeting of the Republican Party of Los Angeles County (RPLAC) and demanded to vote. They were part of a statewide effort by the Paul campaign to take over local units of the GOP.
The Paul campaign launched an unprecedented write in effort this year for central committees in large counties, particularly those with low Republican registration. Some of the Paulistas this morning met the state election code requirement that they receive at least 20 ballots in the actual voting and some did not. They were all allowed to vote after turncoat county Second Vice-Chairman Al Han was selected as Temporary Chairman of the meeting over Chairman Linda Boyd's candidate, State Senator Bob Huff.

Public bailout, long overdue, revealed!

The so-called "income" tax is being applied against most average opedAmericans unconstitutionally and illegally anyway. Do you even know what legal "income" is? Have you ever read the legal definition of income? Don't presume to know because that is what got us into all this to begin with.
Do you know where the law is that makes you personally "liable" for this "income" tax? The IRS (with Congressional backing) has such an excellent smoke and mirrors dog and pony show they have been using to obfuscate, distort and deceive the public about the laws. This "show" distracts us from seeing what is actually happening behind that curtain, and to keep people focused on the lie and not the actual reality.
No law exists making you a "taxpayer," and "income" is NOT your wages, salary or compensation. The scam has been working out of gross ignorance in this country, and out of threats, collusion, fraud and complete corruption by government agencies and others... all because "We the People" simply do not know what the law says, or the simple definitions of such things as "income."
Think you aren't being fleeced? Think you couldn't be defrauded? Hard to believe this could be going on for many decades without anyone knowing about it? Do you KNOW... have you PROVEN... you owe taxes on your wages? Do you KNOW what "income" is, as the courts have defined it? Are you willing to sell your life down the river, along with your family, your neighbor and your country by allowing these liars and deceivers to continue to steal your money?

Why we needed Ron Paul: SWAT team raids a food co-op (link fixed)

nj.comBy the way, the idea of a SWAT team raiding a house on a food complaint seems so nutty that I actually found one blogger questioning whether this is one of those Internet hoaxes. But all indications are that it's not a hoax. The state really did point guns at people for unauthorized sale of food.

Inflation Not a Threat -- Yet

Paul doesn't believe this. He argues that an estimated $8 trillion in barronsbailout commitments by the Treasury and Federal Reserve and other government units has increased the monetary base by 75% over the past two months. "If something that is used as money becomes too plentiful, it loses value," writes Paul in a recent article. "That is how inflation and hyperinflation happens. Giving the central bank the power to create fiat money out of thin air creates the tremendous risk of eventual hyperinflation." He favors a return to the gold standard.

Trust In the GOP?

Ron Paul’s success has been due to a growing awareness – particularly lewrockwellamong young adults – of the fundamental distinction between the "free market" and the "business system." The current efforts of all sorts of major corporations to partake of that wholesale looting of the state treasury known as "bailouts" has even drawn the attention of some on the political left. Still, many well-educated Americans – including members of the mainstream media and academia – continue to babble the nonsense that the corporate-state machinations of the economy are representative of the "free market." It is a remarkable rarity to find any members of the business community who favor a governmentally-unrestrained marketplace. If one pays attention to the words of business leaders, the prevailing sentiment is quickly discerned in terms of "socializing the costs of doing business, while privatizing the profits."

Chuck Baldwin: WHAT CHANGE?

There will be no real change in Washington, D.C., until the CFR and their elitist cronies are thoroughly and universally removed from power. And the only way this will happen is if we elect an Independent President of the United States (someone who truly understands the New World Order and is dedicated to defeating it), because the two major parties will never allow someone opposed to the CFR to become their nominee. The only Republican candidate for President in 2008 who demonstrated those credentials was Dr. Ron Paul. And to a lesser degree, the only Democrat who even seemed to vaguely understand this was Dennis Kucinich. Notice that both men were thoroughly repudiated by their respective parties' leadership and all but totally ignored by the national news media. (The CFR and their surrogates also control the national news media. What a coincidence!)
So, while the occupant at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue may have changed, there will be no real change to the direction of these United States. Count on it!

Can This Marriage Last?

Having savaged each other for a year, Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton antiwarhave now formed a rare partnership in power. Not since James Garfield chose James G. Blaine has a new president chosen his principal rival to be secretary of state.
What does this tell us?
First, don't take campaign oratory all that seriously.
Second, unlike Dennis Kucinich, Ted Kennedy, Ron Paul or Jesse Helms, Hillary and Barack are pragmatists. They do not let ideology or past insults get in the way of a mutually beneficial deal. But this is not some Hitler-Stalin pact of American politics.

How money lost its true purpose

At a very basic level, money is just a method of keeping score. Money is moneyweekonly valuable to society when it performs its function, which is to reward the most productive use of capital. When it's working as it should, it helps us to decide where best to direct limited resources, such as our time and labour.
But money's usefulness has been blunted by central bankers continually focusing on preventing bad investments from going wrong.

Grassroots Activities Update

The Campaign for Liberty organization is just two months old and lots of cflwork has already been done by our grassroots leaders. Following is an update on the latest.
As of today, we have interim state coordinators in 36 of 50 states and they are busily searching for interim coordinators for each congressional district and each county in their states. Many coordinators have attended weekly conference calls since kickoff to discuss goals and provide feedback on website functions.
The first major goal that grassroots members are working toward is having 10,000 precinct leaders on board across the country by this time next year. By mid-November, twelve states had already reached a double-digit percentage of goal (in alphabetical order): Alaska, Idaho, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, New Hampshire, North Dakota, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Utah, Washington and Wyoming.

Welcome to the Police-Military state

Pentagon to Detail Troops to Bolster Domestic Security
The U.S. military expects to have 20,000 uniformed troops inside the United States by 2011 trained to help state and local officials respond to a nuclear terrorist attack or other domestic catastrophe, according to Pentagon officials.
The long-planned shift in the Defense Department's role in homeland security was recently backed with funding and troop commitments after years of prodding by Congress and outside experts, defense analysts said.
There are critics of the change, in the military and among civil liberties groups and libertarians who express concern that the new homeland emphasis threatens to strain the military and possibly undermine the Posse Comitatus Act, a 130-year-old federal law restricting the military's role in domestic law enforcement.

His bill, H.R. 2755, would also require that U.S. currency be backed by gold or silver.
“They (the Federal Reserve Banks) are the official counterfeiters,” Paul told CNSNews.com. “The Constitution says only gold and silver can be used as legal tender. Printing paper money or creating money with a computer is not permissible, and economically it’s a disaster.”

During the seemingly millions of GOP primary debates Ron Paul was ridiculed. Yet back in one of those debates in January of 2008, less than a month after the recession began, Ron Paul said the following:
“I believe we are in a recession. I believe it’s going to get a lot worse.”

The Neo-Alchemy of the Federal Reserve

texas straigh talkAs the printing presses for the bailouts run at full speed, those in power are no longer even pretending that the new giveaways will fix our problems. Now that we are used to rewarding failure with taxpayer-funded bailouts, we are being told that this is “just a start,” more funds will inevitably be needed for more industries, and that things would be much worse had we done nothing.
The updated total bailout commitments add up to over $8 trillion now. This translates into a monetary base increase of 75 percent over the last two months. This money does not come from some rainy day fund tucked away in the budget somewhere – it is created from thin air, and devalues every dollar in circulation. Dumping money on an economy, as they have been doing, is not the same as dumping wealth. In fact, it has quite the opposite effect.
One key attribute that gives money value is scarcity. If something that is used as money becomes too plentiful, it loses value. That is how inflation and hyperinflation happens.

Doug Weed: Is Ron Paul too old to run for president?

Consider; Charles de Gaulle was president of France at the age of 79. Some say he was the greatest modern leader in French history.
Ditto for Konrad Adenhauer, declared by many to be the greatest president of the German Republic in its modern history. Compare him to Helmut Kohl, for example, who presided over the reunification of Germany and was in the process of a Shakespearian moment, with greatness thrust on him, only to self implode in the midst of a tawdry, greedy scandal. Adenhauer served Germany with wisdom and class until the age of 87.
Remember, the last “old” president America had was Ronald Reagan, who left office at 78.

Obama Fomenting A Constitutional Crisis: Constitutional Lawyer Discusses Ramifications Of Controversy

Controversy continues to surround President-elect Barack Obama's the bulletineligibility to serve as president, and a case involving his birth certificate waits for its day before the U.S. Supreme Court. A constitutional lawyer said were it to be discovered that Mr. Obama is not a natural-born U.S. citizen, it would have grave consequences for the nation.
According to the Constitution, a president must be a natural born citizen of the U.S. Mr. Obama's critics have failed to force him legally to produce his original birth certificate, and Mr. Obama has resisted any attempt to make him do so. Currently, only Hawaii Department of Health officials have access to Mr. Obama's original records.
Some of Mr. Obama's critics have said he was born in Kenya and have claimed he is a citizen of Kenya, Indonesia, or even a British subject.
