Bob Novak on Ron Paul

"Rep. Ron Paul set fundraising records on Monday, pulling in $4.2 million lewrockwell blogin online donations in one day. This is the largest single day of online fundraising in political history, and the largest single day of donations for any Republican candidate ever. The donations, averaging a little more than $100 each, reflect the unmatched enthusiasm of Paul's supporters, who range from anti-war activists to libertarians to fed-up Republicans.

Money matters: Ron Paul's record haul is getting him lots of time with the media

Raising more money in one day than any other candidate ever had usa todaykeeps paying dividends for Republican presidential candidate Rep. Ron Paul in terms of media exposure.
Yesterday it was Fox News Channel. This morning it was CNN. Now it's the Associated Press that's reporting on an interview with the Texas congressman.

Ron Paul now a frontrunner, in the race to win it

In this election the media polls have proven to be at best an obsolete and lagging indicator, or worse, a tool to manipulate the public. There usa dailyalso appears to be a faulty view among media pundits that online users are a different group of people than Cable News viewers.
Media corporations appear to be struggling with the possibility that they are losing control over the election process and becoming slightly less relevant than before. The internet is user driven and as its role in politics grows, media corporations may have to adapt and follow the lead of online indicators instead of their own polls.

Paul also appeals to people who are fed up with the partisanship and chridstian science monitortear-down-the-front-runners mentality in American politics. "A lot of people will look at Paul and say, that guy is talking to me, not to the people at the other podiums next to him," says Mr. Jillson.
Already, Paul has boosted his radio and television advertising.
The final question is whether Paul launches a third-party campaign, if he fails to win the GOP nomination. That is a prospect the Republican Party can ill afford.

I usually vote Democratic. Although I weigh all of the candidates carefully, and wish the public would support more than just the two main parties so heavily, the most likely and agreeable candidates in my mind often end up happening to be Democrats.
I think that next year, this may not be the case.

All the other candidates are out there lying about their support earnings such as Hilary Clinton and Guiliani whilst simultaneously accepting money from dirty corporate lobbyists. Regardless of one's ideology, there is simply no denying certain salonattributes of Paul's campaign which are highly laudable. There have been few serious campaigns that are more substantive -- just purely focused on analyzing and solving the most vital political issues. There have been few candidates who more steadfastly avoid superficial gimmicks, cynical stunts, and manipulative tactics. There have been few candidates who espouse a more coherent, thoughtful, consistent ideology of politics, grounded in genuine convictions and crystal clear political values.

Ron Paul’s 4.2 mil message, what good is it?

The American worker loses in so many ways due to our current monetary policy and tax code. The Fed prints our money, and we pay interest on the very currency we use. No wonder they put “In God We Trust” on all of it. We take out loans for houses, cars, clothes, and anything else you can name. And we pay interest. We pay once more as the value of our dollar goes down daily, inflation is the unseen tax. Then April 15th the IRS decides to give us some of our income back so that we can carry on living this American Dream. Isn’t it obvious who’s really living the American Dream?

Ron Paul wishes to preserve the Constitution which always intended the federal government to be quite limited in its power. The power the central government had was directly related to the power that the people gave it. Of course politicians have always done their power grab games and soon after our countries birth being a politician became a profession rather than a part-time agent of the people.

Ron Paul's Money Draws Fresh Attention

Paul is indeed an online force who attracts support from people who do forbesnot fit easily into the standard Democratic and Republican political pigeonholes. His fame, as much as it is, stems from the political shorthand that has defined his candidacy: The only Republican opposed to the war in Iraq.
But Paul leans libertarian in his ideology and cites the Constitution as his guide. He opposes law enforcement or anti-terrorism measures that he believes encroach on civil liberties. His views on small government extend to weakening if not eliminating the Education Department. He favors limiting immigration and strengthening border security.

Hartman supported President Bush four years ago and explained, "Up until the last six months I had not allowed myself to imagine that we'd been let down by Bush." As for Iraq, he said, "I don't think we were prepared to understand that culture and to work with that culture." He said he now feels "humble and I feel kind of bad that I haven't done a better job of being faithful to Ron Paul's kind of integrity." [Source: MSNBC, Oct. 30, 2007]

The real question is, why is this man and his ideas so popular?
It's not an easy question, and there certainly is no sound byte answer here! Here's a quick overview to explain the $4.2 million in one day:
1. A large percentage of Americans actually agree with Ron Paul's ideas regarding freedom and liberty, which no other candidate is discussing, i.e., Paul would put an end to the Patriot Act.
2. Ron Paul is anti-establishment and anti-status quo. Even today, Americans have an inherent tendency to go against authority, or as some might say, a rebellious streak. Ron Paul represents this like no other candidate.

Ron Paul Blows the Doors Off

The online political sphere at large has been buzzing about Paul for his huntington newsonline fund-raising and a variety of reasons since the beginning of the year. Reporters who write about Paul -- or who fail to mention Paul in their stories -- are familiar with the e-mails, some of them downright incredulous.
That's partly because, not just Paul's bona fides with the techno savvy intelligentsia, but because he's attracting Democrats and independents as well as Republicans, who are either fed up with what the other candidates are feeding them or haven't made up their minds, or some combination of those things and other unknown factors.

It is my belief that by the end of the day, the donations achieved by the ac mediaRon Paul campaign, will leave many of the other candidates on both on sides salivating, and wishing that they had decided to represent the people of the United States instead of their own special interest. More than likely, some will even attempt to move in the direction of the Texas Congressman's stances on certain issues.
